A Lullaby for Little Dreamers
Imagine waddling 
like a blue billed duck
Balancing buoyancy 
on two webbed feet
Imagine marching 
like a big bold magpie 
Head cocked, listening
For my next juicy feed
Imagine my leaves 
dancing in the breeze 
I’m a gum tree swaying
in the warm summer air
Imagine all the worlds smells 
to a bustling little ant
Out on the hunt 
for a dinner to share
Imagine the view 
from high up in the blue
I’m a cocky - soaring, 
tumbling way up there
Imagine my gills 
as I weave, dash and mill
I’m a fish 
swimming for my next meal
Imagine the river 
feeding all of this life
On her wandering way out to sea
Imagine the girl, 
come to say good night
Before bedtime, 
curled up..
and asleep
